Your valuation certificate should include. The four C’s: Cut, Colour, Clarity, and Carat.
Cut – refers to the way the facets or flat surfaces are angled. The better the cut the more the diamond sparkles.
Types of cuts include: Princess – square; Marquise – eye or boat; Brilliant – round; Emerald – rectangular.
Colour – Diamonds may appear colourless, these are rare and very valuable, and under a magnifying glass you will find yellow or brown tints.
Clarity – refers to the inclusions in a diamond – microscopic traces of non-crystallised carbon that interfere with the passage of light, the fewer inclusions the better.
Carat – like Gold a diamonds weight is also measured in carats.
